Vancouver

Sept 6, 2014 Our bus/ferry/bus/skytrain/bus/walk trip WHEW! was very smooth except for the part where the bus would only accept coins. How stupid is that! It was very hot so the walk pulling the luggage was hard work - thank goodness it was flat! We had a Thai lunch along the way & bought beer and bus tickets. The added weight of the beer and a full stomach didn’t help.

I’m not going to give a day by day itinerary but I do want to advise visitors to Vancouver to take the Trolley Hop On Hop Off ride.

There is a lot to see in the downtown area. The ride itself takes 2 ½ hours. We actually bought the 2 day package. Stanley Park is a must and is very large. Walking the seawall will take over 2 hours. We were there on a Sunday and many of the locals were out getting their Vitamin D.

This is a picture of a steam clock in Gastown where Vancouver originally started. I enjoyed this part of town - very quaint. We stopped in for a cocktail. I had “The Best Amaretto Sour in the World”. It wasn’t, it was the worst amaretto sour I have ever had. Oh Well, you can’t win them all. We have had some very nice B.C. wine from the Okanagan Valley.

Chinatown looked run down but is said to be very safe.  Definitely lots to look at. Our #22 bus route took us through this district.

I also found the Science World a fun place until it was over run with children. I wanted to play with the exhibits!

We wanted to get to Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. I am placing this button on the page so I remember to visit the next time I’m in town.
